About Guy Beard Jewelry

Guy Beard's experience working with precious metals began in the late 70s as a goldsmith managing a dental lab. In 1981, Guy founded Beard's Custom Jewelry, a highly profitable business venture that provided an early platform for his unique jewelry designs and manufacturing techniques. After initiating a strategic marketing campaign, 14KT Exotics was Guy's next enterprise directed toward custom designer gold jewelry, special orders and a unique line of nautical art. James Shrader and Toby Zawada joined Beard a couple of years later and the trio's collective innovations created the special equipment used to braid gold wire into a high quality line of cable jewelry.

The success of Guy's pioneering efforts would receive the approval of the International Wire Council for his technological advancements in mass production techniques and the development of his patented process for gold cable memory. Unlike other industry engineers, Guy couldn't accept the precious metal's tendency to deform and lose its natural shape due to normal wear. In keeping with his decades of innovative solutions, he would invent a tempering process that allowed flexible precious metals like gold to retain their form once they had been shaped to a jeweler's design.

Today, anytime he's not enjoying the Salt Life, Guy can be found at his studio, TOO MANY IDEAS, in Jacksonville's historic San Marco district. Don't assume Guy's latest enterprise to be some kind of semi-retired venture. All one has to do is stop by and you'll quickly realize that his zest for technological innovation and fine jewelry design is fueled by a true love of what he does. As you follow this energetic design engineer from his tempering vat in the production area to his facility's high-tech laser engraving CAD center, you begin to see that the best of Guy Beard is still to come.
